SUMMARY:2018 December Event
DESCRIPTION:CRA's two-part\, all day December Educational Event is back in 2018! This year's December Event includes the 4th Annual Legal Issues Symposium in the morning and the The first 48 hours of a weather disaster on local roads in the afternoon. Tickets to both halves of the day can be purchased separately or together for a discounted rate. \n\n\n\n4th ANNUAL LEGAL ISSUES SYMPOSIUM: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAccurately performing the complex issues facing county road agencies is challenging. This year's Legal Issues Symposium sheds light on three areas that are raising questions for road agencies.\n\n\n\nKicking o the symposium is legal advice on the roles and responsibilities of county road agencies and county drain commissions\, and what to do when their plans and priorities overlap or con ict. This session should help make sense out of some of the grey areas where road right-of-way (ROW) meets the county drain.\n\n\n\nThe morning's second session will cover one of the most challenging areas of a new road project: ROW acquisition. Three attorneys walk county road agencies through the optimal process for ROW acquisition\, to best avoid litigation particularly if theissue heads to condemnation proceedings.\n\n\n\nThe third segment is an area related to the afternoon's crisis management presentations: Is your road agency protected when you provide mutual aid? If not\, how should you prepare ahead of time?\n\n\n\nClick here for the full agenda and details.\n\n\n\nTHE FIRST 48 HOURS of a weather disaster on local roads:\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAs they say "lightning strikes!" But when a weather catastrophe strikes your road and bridge network\, the immediate effects are broad\, deep and can be life-threatening.\n\n\n\nIn the last five years\, significant rain events have brought catastrophe to the road systems in Gogebic\, Baraga\, Houghton\, Chippewa\, Leelanau\, Isabella and Midland counties to name a few. No county is immune. For the leadership team at a county road agency\, how you handle the first 24 hours of a crisis on the roads will impact public safety\, emergency response by first responders\, business operations and how you will ultimately pay for restoration.\n\n\n\nThis CRA Education Program will present some key guidelines to follow from experts and other agencies who have overcome a weather disaster on the road system.\n\n\n\nClick here for the full agenda and details.
