DESCRIPTION:A career serving your community is at your fngertips.\n\nDon't miss this opportunity to enter the feld of public works!\n\nPublic works employees are vitally important in our communities\, and in great demand across\n\nWest Michigan. Municipalities are looking for people who are passionate about improving the\n\nlives of those around them.\n\nThe need is great\, so communities have partnered with Grand Rapids Community College to\n\ndevelop a hands-on\, active learning experience that prepares people for great careers and\n\nopportunities in public works.\n\nSuccessful graduates of the Public Works Academy will receive interviews with two of the\n\ncommunity partners for possible seasonal or internship positions at public works facilities in\n\nWest Michigan. This is the first step to secure a full-time position.\n\nJob titles include:\n\n  Building specialist\n\n  Engineering technician\n\n  Equipment operator\n\n  Fleet services technician\n\n  Maintenance worker for utilities\,\n\nstreets\, grounds and buildings\n\nTwo Training Sessions to choose from:\n\nJanuary 21-April 17\, 2019 from 5:30 - 8:30pm on Mondays and Wednesdays\n\nor\n\nJanuary 22-March 12\, 2019 from 9:00am - 3:00pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.\n\nThe program consists of 84 hours of training.\n\nProgram is $652 (if you live in the cities of Grand Rapids\, Kentwood or Wyoming it's just $25) -\n\nthe remaining cost is off-set by grant funding. This is open to individuals over 18 years old who\n\nare ready to work. High school diploma or GED is recommended. A valid drivers license may be\n\nrequired.
